## Schaeffler Wins 2026 HERMES Award
Schaeffler has won the prestigious 2026 HERMES Innovation Award for its platform developed for highly integrated actuators. This achievement was recognized for both its technological innovation and its contributions to the field of robotics.
### Award Details and Ceremony
Selected by an independent jury chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer Society, Schaeffler received its award from Dorothee Bär, Federal Minister for Research, Technology, and Space of Germany, at the opening of Hannover Messe. German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz also attended the ceremony.
### Highly Integrated Actuator Platform
Schaeffler's award-winning platform was specifically designed for use in the joint areas of humanoid robots. It is equipped with high-efficiency servo electric motors, integrated power electronics, and encoders. It can be configured with two-stage planetary gears or shaft-mounted gear units according to customer needs.
During the development process, the priority was to provide high continuous torque with a minimum installation space. The new design offers an installation space approximately 20% smaller compared to the best existing solutions. Additionally, by increasing the copper fill factor in the frameless PSM machine, a low temperature level was achieved at high torques.

This platform significantly reduces system costs, forming a critical foundation for the rapid proliferation of service robots.
Federal Minister Dorothee Bär pointed out that Schaeffler and BTRY are conducting world-class research in Europe, emphasizing that the award-winning platform plays an important role in the development of robotic technologies in Germany.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hanselka stated that this platform is critical for human-like robotic applications and will have lasting effects on industrial value chains thanks to its high power density and compact design.
