    ### HERMES Startup Award 2026 Given to BTRY

At the opening of HANNOVER MESSE in April 2026, the young Swiss startup BTRY won the HERMES Startup Award for developing ultra-thin and fully flexible solid-state batteries. The award was presented by Federal Minister for Research, Technology, and Space, Dorothee Bär, in the presence of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

    ### BTRY's Innovative Solid-State Batteries

The battery technology developed by BTRY demonstrates superior performance compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, with features such as fast charging, high temperature resistance, and excellent safety. Thanks to technologies adopted from the semiconductor industry in production, smaller, safer, and more durable energy storage solutions are provided.

These innovative batteries offer the following advantages:

    • Completely toxic solvent-free production process
    • Low material consumption
    • Operable up to 150 °C
    • Ultra-thin structure, only 0.1 mm thick
    • Full charge and discharge in 1 minute

    ### Application Areas

The developed batteries are designed for use in the next generation of smart devices, such as wireless IoT sensors, wearable technologies, and medical devices.

    ### Jury Opinions

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer Society, stated, "Tailored battery solutions are critically important for the transition to a climate-neutral society. BTRY has proven its superiority with product performance and production technology."

Minister Dorothee Bär commented, "This resource-efficient and space-saving energy storage solution demonstrates the importance of innovative ideas that enhance competitiveness."
