Siemens has introduced the Eigen Engineering Agent, which automates PLC coding and system configuration in industrial automation engineering. This innovation aims to accelerate engineering processes and increase operational efficiency.
The Eigen Engineering Agent integrates directly into existing automation platforms, undertaking end-to-end task planning and verification processes in complex production environments. This technology offers engineering teams much more than just code snippet generation; it automatically understands projects, writes automation code, and configures hardware settings itself.

The Eigen Engineering Agent is integrated into Siemens TIA Portal, providing access to approximately 600,000 users. This represents the inclusion of AI-powered tools into the standard software stack as part of Siemens' digital supply chain strategy.
Supported by a €1 billion industrial AI investment announced in November 2025, this technology aims to create a standard operating system for physical AI. While currently focused on automation engineering, its architecture is designed to extend across the entire industrial value chain, including maintenance and real-time operations optimization.
