RobCo unveiled its next-generation robot, Autonomous Alfie, at Hannover Messe 2026, developed for variable and real-world industrial robotic applications. This robot opens a new category in industrial robotics by enabling manufacturers to automate processes involving precise, variable, and diverse inputs. Alfie is seen as a significant step towards Level 4 autonomy, aiming for robots to perform tasks with minimal human intervention through their learning and adaptation capabilities.
### Features of Autonomous Alfie
- Versatile manipulation with two arms
- Tight integration of sensing and execution hardware and software
- Broad application capability, from precision assembly to delicate material handling
- Support for intralogistics processes such as picking, placing, kitting, and palletizing
- Operation in dynamic, changing environments and continuous learning
- Automatic adaptation to new objects, workflows, and conditions
- Usage without extensive manual programming
RobCo Product Director Lorenzo Pautasso emphasized the system's power, stating, "In industry, things that are flashy are often celebrated; our focus is on solutions that truly work in production. Alfie can reliably perform tasks thousands of times a day, even under variable conditions."
Autonomous Alfie, planned for its first customer applications by late 2026, represents a significant advancement in RobCo's Physical AI roadmap, developed thanks to its $100 million investment. The company also aims to increase its presence in the US market. The system is offered under a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, enabling rapid adoption without upfront investment.
RobCo CEO Roman Hölzl explained, "For decades, automation has been confined to predictable, fixed environments. With Alfie, we are offering a new generation of systems that can manage variable conditions at scale. This opens up a vast new area of industrial work that automation has not been able to reach until now."
