Nidec Drive Technology has opened a new assembly plant in Japan, increasing its production capacity from 60 to 120 press machines per year. This facility, which opened on April 15, 2026, in Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture, will be capable of producing press machines ranging from 150 to 330 tons.
### What the New Plant Brings
This investment doubles Nidec Drive Technology's production capacity while expanding its product range, increasing its ability to meet diverse manufacturing needs. The new facility also ensures better distribution of production centers in Asia, offering a more flexible and rapid response to geopolitical risks.
The factory is located on the premises of Nidec Machine Tool Corporation, another company within the Nidec Group. This will enhance technology integration and cross-selling opportunities with machine processing equipment, measurement technologies, and service systems.
### Production and Technology
Nidec Drive Technology not only manufactures press machines but also offers production line solutions, including feeding systems, peripheral devices, and control units. With the new factory, synergies within the Nidec Group will be utilized more effectively, increasing the in-house parts production rate, shortening assembly time, and improving post-product support.
