New AC Micro Drive from Yaskawa for Single and Three-Phase Motors

    Yaskawa has introduced its compact GA501 AC micro drive, suitable for motors from 1/6 HP to 40 HP and supporting six different industrial protocols. This micro drive stands out particularly for its ease of programming and connectivity.

    ### GA501 Micro Drive Features
    • Supported motor types: Induction, permanent magnet, and synchronous reluctance motors
    • Motor power range: 1/6 HP - 40 HP
    • Voltage types: 240 VAC single-phase, 240 VAC three-phase, 480 VAC three-phase
    • Motor power ranges: 1/6 HP-5 HP, 1/6 HP-30 HP, 1/2 HP-40 HP
    • Integrated dual Ethernet port
    • Supported industrial protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, BACnet/IP, MECHATROLINK-4
    • Front panel LEDs indicating motion and network status

    The GA501 is designed to be compatible with modern automation systems and can be easily programmed via Ethernet. Protocol selection can be made using dip switch settings, and devices can be connected in a ring topology, which simplifies multi-device management.

    ### Programming and User Experience
    The GA501 eliminates the need for programming with power on, as is often required with traditional drives. Thanks to the DriveWizard mobile application, parameters can be set without removing the drive from its box or applying power. It also offers cloud-based logging, enabling parameter backup and quick drive replacement.

    ### Importance of AC Motor Drives in Industry
    AC motors draw high current, especially during startup. VFDs like the GA501 can reduce startup current, which increases energy efficiency and optimizes in-plant motor usage. With precise speed control, energy-efficient fans and smart conveyor systems can be developed.
