Nigeria's Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Africa's largest refinery, will leverage Honeywell's digital process and automation technologies to boost production efficiency and improve equipment reliability.
### Project Details
Honeywell will provide advanced digital performance monitoring, connected services, and operator training to the Dangote Refinery, located in Lekki, Nigeria, which is the world's largest single-train oil refinery. Honeywell Performance+ Services will be implemented across the refinery's main processing units, aiming to increase the production of high-octane fuels from various feedstocks.
Advanced digital tools delivered via Honeywell's Forge platform and the expertise of Honeywell UOP engineers will enable Dangote to quickly identify potential issues and optimize performance using real-time operational data.
### Honeywell's Contributions
- Advanced automation and digital solutions for more agile, reliable, and efficient refinery operations
- Enhancement of operational performance and improvement of asset reliability
- Training of personnel in real-world scenarios through Operator Training Simulators (OTS) developed using digital twins
### About Dangote Refinery
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery produces Euro-V standard gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, as well as polypropylene, an important raw material for the plastics and packaging industries. The facility is designed to meet all of Nigeria's domestic fuel needs, with surplus production allocated for export. More than 3,000 Nigerian workers are employed at the refinery.
### Capacity Increase and Collaboration
As a result of a collaboration spanning approximately 10 years, Honeywell will support increasing the refinery's capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels, optimizing existing assets and accelerating market supply.
With its extensive experience in automation and process technologies worldwide, Honeywell plays a critical role in helping Dangote achieve its operational excellence goals.
