## Winner of the HERMES Startup Award 2026: BTRY
At HANNOVER MESSE, which opened in April 2026, the Swiss young start-up named BTRY won the HERMES Startup Award for its innovative design of ultra-thin and fully flexible solid-state batteries. The award was presented by Dorothee Bär, Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space of Germany, at the official opening ceremony, which was also attended by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
### Superior Solid-State Battery Technology
The ultra-thin solid-state batteries developed by BTRY offer superiority over conventional lithium-ion batteries with their fast charging, high temperature resistance, and exceptional safety features. Thanks to the application of semiconductor manufacturing technologies to battery production, a significant global advancement has been made in smaller, safer, and more durable energy storage solutions.
These batteries provide an ideal foundation for the future of smart devices such as wireless IoT sensors, wearables, and medical applications. The manufacturing process is completely free of toxic solvents and ensures low raw material consumption. The batteries can operate up to 150 °C and, with a thickness of only 0.1 mm, can be fully charged and discharged in 1 minute.
