At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, approximately ten companies are organizing a joint exhibition under the name "Battery Use Case." This exhibition will showcase electric vehicle (EV) battery cell production live, presenting a fully integrated value chain from battery cell to battery production and recycling.
### Battery Use Case and Automation
Bosch Rexroth will introduce process solutions for the recycling of electric vehicle batteries in Hall 26. These solutions reduce safety risks during diagnosis, discharge, and dismantling phases, while increasing process efficiency and ensuring cost-effectiveness. The rapid proliferation of electric vehicles is projected to increase the amount of batteries to be recycled by at least 10 times within the next five years. This significant increase poses challenges for the existing recycling infrastructure, particularly for dismantling and handling in cases where battery status is unknown. Bosch Rexroth, with its extensive product range in manufacturing, linear technology, control systems, and drives, offers comprehensive systems ranging from manual to semi- and fully automatic solutions.
The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production (FFB) supports Europe's industrial independence in battery cell production through digital technologies and innovative logistics solutions. Together with the EDAG Group, FFB offers a demo that enables a virtual 3D tour of the research production site in Münster. This demo clearly and interactively illustrates the process chain of electrode production, cell assembly, and battery formation.
### Syvairo Mini-Environment Transport Box
Syvairo, a subsidiary of FFB, ensures the protected transport of sensitive battery intermediates in a gas-tight container system with continuous atmospheric monitoring. By controlling the environment with gases such as argon or nitrogen, it reduces quality losses and increases process reliability.
### SCHUNK: Automated Handling in Battery Cell Production
SCHUNK offers specialized automation solutions for the high precision, speed, and cleanliness requirements at the heart of battery cell production. They develop reliable systems that operate in clean and dry environments and on high-speed production lines. In the "Battery Use Case" area, SCHUNK will exhibit automated handling solutions for processes such as loading, positioning, and removing prismatic battery cells from welding systems after welding.
