    💡 Groundbreaking ASi-5 Modules from Bihl+Wiedemann

Bihl+Wiedemann has introduced new ASi-5 modules designed for flexible data exchange and device integration in industrial networks. These innovative solutions aim to easily integrate CAN and Modbus TCP devices into industrial automation systems and production environments.

    ⚙️ No Special Software Required!

The BWU4412 and BWU5246 ASi-5 modules were developed to connect standard field devices to existing networks. By eliminating the need for special software, they reduce configuration overhead and efficiently adapt to individual requirements in automation applications.

🌐 Modbus TCP Communication is Now More Flexible

The BWU5246 is an ASi-5 active distributor specifically designed for Modbus TCP devices. This module, with IP67 protection, supports individually configurable data exchange. Network parameters are configured via PC software, allowing for flexible integration of any standard Modbus TCP hardware.

    📡 Transparent CAN Data Transfer

For CAN networks, the BWU4412 module provides 100% transparent communication within an IP67-protected housing. The hardware transmits the entire CAN frame directly into the process data stream, preserving all frame information, including CAN ID and data length. This enables flexible integration of various CAN devices. The BWU4412 also features four digital inputs and two digital outputs to process additional auxiliary signals.

✨ Why Are These Modules Different?

Integrating different fieldbus and Ethernet protocols in industrial networks often requires specialized gateways or complex PLC communication processors. However, IP67-rated ASi-5 modules like the BWU4412 and BWU5246 simplify this process by moving the translation to the field level. While traditional gateways require installation in IP20 control cabinets, these ASi-5 modules allow for decentralized machine mounting, reducing wiring costs and panel space requirements. Furthermore, the transparent transfer of entire CAN frames directly into process data eliminates the risks of latency and data loss associated with intermediate protocol conversion mapping.
