The challenging conditions encountered in industrial processes constantly demand engineering solutions to push boundaries. Especially in environments dominated by high vacuum, extreme temperatures, and aggressive chemicals, standard components can fall short. It is precisely at this point that Bosch Rexroth introduces a groundbreaking innovation in linear motion technologies.

🔬 Design Challenging High Vacuum and Extreme Temperatures
Bosch Rexroth has introduced the NRTVG (Temperature Vacuum Graded) runner block, specially developed for BSHP ball rail systems. This size 25 runner block, made entirely of corrosion-resistant steel, is designed to operate flawlessly in high-vacuum environments, across a wide temperature range from freezing cold to scorching hot, and in industrial conditions exposed to aggressive chemicals.

🌡️ Wide Operating Range and Vacuum Compatibility
The NRTVG runner block can operate in a wide temperature range from -30 °C to 200 °C. This feature allows it to be used in many applications, from deep-freeze logistics to high-temperature applications such as glass production and foundries. For high-vacuum environments frequently required in semiconductor and display manufacturing, it provides compatibility up to vacuum levels of 10⁻⁷ mbar.
To maintain vacuum integrity and prevent virtual leaks, the block has two ventilation holes on each side. These holes allow trapped air to be quickly expelled during installation, increasing system efficiency.

🛠️ All-Metal Architecture and Modular Sealing
Produced using advanced metal injection molding (MIM) processes, this ball guide contains no plastic components. This feature meets strict standards, which is a critical requirement especially for sensitive cleanroom production processes.
For resistance to aggressive environments, the system offers optional fluororubber (FKM) seals that can withstand constant temperatures up to 150 °C and are resistant to industrial oils and chemicals. Additionally, a pre-installed cover plate wiper made of corrosion-resistant steel is available. This wiper protects the internal ball recirculation paths from coarse contaminants such as metal chips.
Thanks to the modular design of the BSHP, the guide rail and runner block can be replaced independently. This minimizes maintenance costs and increases operational efficiency.

💡 Why All-Metal? Critical Details in Vacuum Environments
In high vacuum (HV) and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments (e.g., semiconductor photolithography or OLED physical vapor deposition (PVD)), standard industrial plastics and lubricants cannot be used. This is because these materials evaporate (outgas), contaminating the vacuum chamber and causing microscopic defects on silicon wafers or glass substrates.
The use of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) for the NRTVG's ball recirculation elements eliminates the need for standard plastic resin end caps and recirculation tubes found in conventional linear rails. Furthermore, since standard petroleum-based lubricants boil in vacuum and immediately cause metal-to-metal seizure, all-metal linear guides in these environments must use special vacuum-compatible solid lubricants (such as molybdenum disulfide, MoS₂) or low vapor pressure perfluoropolyether (PFPE) greases to achieve their rated lifespan.

Bosch Rexroth's innovative NRTVG runner block is a significant step for businesses seeking reliable and high-performance linear motion solutions in demanding industrial conditions. With its all-metal construction and special design, it illuminates the future of industrial applications.
