Robotiq has introduced TSF-85 tactile sensor fingertips for its 2F-85 adaptive gripper. This technology provides integrated tactile sensing for physical artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
The TSF-85 sensor fingertips are designed to be ready for immediate use in AI training labs, humanoid robotics applications, and industrial physical AI solutions. Thanks to its patented mechanical structure, the 2F-85 gripper can adapt its gripping and encompassing movements across stroke lengths of 85 mm and 140 mm.
The adaptive gripper simplifies grip planning and reduces reliance on vision by conforming to the object's shape. This allows robots to improve object generalization while contributing to physical AI datasets.
### 2F-85 Adaptive Gripper Features
- Patented mechanical design
- 85 mm and 140 mm stroke lengths
- Pinch and encompassing gripping capabilities
- Conforms to object shape
- Native RS-485 communication support
- Compatible with USB conversion board
According to Robotiq, the 2F grippers provide a suitable foundation for integration into AI workflows such as reinforcement learning, vision-language-action models, and imitation learning. They also offer flexible compatibility with various robot brands and research platforms.
Developments in physical AI highlight the increasing importance of artificial intelligence applications in manufacturing and the future of automation.
