✨ The New Face of Smart Manufacturing: IA Smart Motion 2.0®

TCI Cutting takes the smart factory concept a step further with its IA Smart Motion 2.0® technology. This advanced system directly integrates artificial intelligence into the motion control of fiber laser cutting machines. Combined with the company's proprietary MAS Concept® (Machines, Automation, and Software), this technology creates a networked ecosystem that also includes the Manager PRO® production management software and the TCI Sorter 3.0® automatic palletizing system.

This end-to-end production model aims to maximize efficiency and process autonomy by seamlessly connecting machines, robots, and software.

🧠 Dynamic and Predictive Motion Control with Artificial Intelligence

In traditional laser cutting, abrupt braking and acceleration during complex direction changes negatively impact cycle times. The new AI-powered IA Smart Motion 2.0® control predictively analyzes the upcoming cutting path and adapts the machine's dynamic behavior (speed and acceleration) to the actual geometry of the workpiece.

When the laser head approaches curves or tight radii, the system modulates the motion early, ensuring high speeds are maintained on straight lines and only rounding and braking where precision requires it. This technology, used in TCI Cutting's 2D, 2D+Bevel, and 3D fiber laser cutting solutions, offers smoother movements, optimized contour quality, and reduced mechanical wear.

🔄 End-to-End Data Flow from Cutting to Palletizing

Optimizing cutting performance alone is not enough; the real bottleneck in modern sheet metal production often lies in downstream intralogistics and material handling. This is where TCI Cutting's MAS Concept® comes into play: the Manager PRO® software consolidates all production data and networks workshop planning with physical machines in real-time.

After cutting, the TCI Sorter 3.0® takes over, integrating the AI-based logic of Smart Sorting® technology. This intelligent system autonomously decides on the removal strategies for cut parts based on priorities for subsequent production steps and places them onto pallets. Each process step feeds new data into the overall system, significantly reducing manual interventions and continuously optimizing material flow.

⚙️ Inertia Moments and Robot Gripping Logic in Gantry Machines

In high-performance sheet metal processing, the gantries of modern fiber lasers often move with enormous accelerations exceeding 2 to 3 G. Under these extreme forces, the physical limits of the machine structure are reached: abrupt changes in direction at sharp corners generate high-frequency vibrations and mechanical jolts, which can appear as fine vibration marks on the cutting edge. Traditional CNC controls intensively brake large drives before corners, losing valuable cycle time. A predictive AI control pre-calculates the exact moments of inertia of the moving masses and modulates the servo drives in fractions of a microsecond to navigate corners in smooth profiles and eliminate mechanical resonances.

Another major challenge in "lights-out" automation (unmanned production) is the subsequent sorting of parts. During cutting, nesting is designed to minimize sheet metal waste, resulting in completely different geometries lying extremely close and intertwined on the cutting bed. During automatic unloading, gantry robots with suction cups must calculate the exact centers of gravity of these asymmetric parts, which may be fixed by micro-joints or partially tilted, without shifting adjacent workpieces or placing vacuum cups over holes in the part. Here, complex AI algorithms are used to interpret nesting plans and dynamically calculate the optimal gripping, lifting, and placement strategy.
