Teradyne Robotics Defends Intellectual Property in European Market

Industrial automation giant Teradyne Robotics has initiated legal action to protect its collaborative robotics technologies in the European market. The company aims to maintain the technical integrity and compatibility of its hardware and software architectures.

    Patent Infringement Lawsuit in Copenhagen

Teradyne Robotics has filed a complaint with the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Copenhagen to address patent infringement claims by a German subsidiary of the Chinese company JAKA. This step aims to regulate the use of collaborative technologies marketed within the European Union.

    Technical Details and Responsibilities

At the heart of the lawsuit are patents belonging to Teradyne Robotics A/S's Universal Robots A/S division. These patents cover both hardware mechanisms and software architectures used in collaborative industrial robots. While Teradyne Robotics assumes the responsibility of defending its technical specifications, the local division of the UPC in Copenhagen will assess the compliance of competing robot models with the patented standards.

    Application Areas and Expected Impact

The technologies being defended are directly used in the production and distribution of collaborative industrial robots. These systems are critical for stabilizing and automating production lines in environments that require direct interaction with operators. Protecting these patents will ensure that technical use cases in the manufacturing sector continue to rely on verified and secure architectures.

Jean-Pierre Hathout, President of Teradyne Robotics, stated, "We are committed to defending our intellectual property to ensure that our customers continue to benefit from innovative automation solutions that meet the highest safety and compatibility standards.
