    Torrent Photonics has introduced SpectroCam 2, a new multispectral imaging platform designed to accelerate OEM product development processes. This system replaces the original SpectroCam architecture, offering developers the flexibility to test camera sensors, lenses, and filters without fixed hardware constraints. It is an ideal solution for product development, research, and OEM integration.

    ⚙️ Modular Structure and Broad Scope​


    • Sensor Options: Sensor options covering ultraviolet (UV), visible, and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths are available.
    • Filter Wheel: The eight-position rotating filter wheel is equipped with user-changeable, hard-coated interference filters.
    • Flexibility: This modular design allows for continuous improvement of spectral bands, resolution, and field of view as project requirements change.

    Once ideal imaging parameters are validated in lab or field tests, Torrent Photonics can transform this configuration into an application-specific OEM design.

    🔬 The Importance of Multispectral Imaging​


    Multispectral imaging (MSI) captures specific wavelength bands across the electromagnetic spectrum, revealing data that standard cameras cannot see. This technology is critical in fields such as machine vision, forensics, and environmental sensing. For example, in agriculture, MSI systems use near-infrared (NIR) reflectance to detect plant stress, nutrient imbalances, or diseases long before standard RGB cameras can perceive color differences.

    ✨ Revolutionizing the Development Process​


    In the past, developing a commercial MSI device required engineers to commit to a fixed camera architecture early in the design process. When preliminary tests indicated that a particular wavelength band was ineffective, changing the optical filter or sensor often meant purchasing an entirely new camera platform. SpectroCam 2, by utilizing a configurable rotating filter wheel with easily interchangeable, hard-coated interference filters, allows engineers to rapidly prototype and test various spectral combinations.

    Since hard-coated filters offer superior optical throughput compared to electronic alternatives like liquid crystal tunable filters (LCTFs), this approach provides high signal-to-noise ratios, making it ideal for a successful transition from lab-based proof-of-concept setups to high-volume production.
