💡 Future Technologies Showcased at MEORGA Ludwigshafen
JUMO introduced its latest innovations in process automation at the 2026 MEORGA MSR Special Trade Fair. At its stand B1 in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, the company presented solutions tailored to the needs of modern process engineering facilities. These solutions combine precise data acquisition with intelligent process control, ensuring high availability and economical operation.
⚙️ Modular Systems and Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) Integration
JUMO's focus at the fair was on automation systems combined with its new modular I/O system. These systems eliminate the need for separate paperless recorders thanks to an integrated recording application. This allows for real-time monitoring and evaluation of critical process parameters directly within the system. Furthermore, the program application links complex sequences with minimal programming effort.
JUMO also showcased its smart sensors equipped with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE). These sensors can transmit process data directly to the cloud and higher-level IT systems without the need for additional gateways. This technology facilitates the integration between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), flattening the automation pyramid and offering an open network architecture.
🗣️ Expert Presentation and Technological Background
As part of the fair, Matthias Garbsch delivered an expert presentation on functional safety and plant availability at 3:00 PM in Hall B. This presentation highlighted JUMO's innovative approach and technological depth in the process industry.
Traditional field devices relying on bandwidth-limited 4-20 mA loops or HART protocols required additional gateways for in-depth analysis. SPE eliminates this media discontinuity by providing a real-time Ethernet connection over a single twisted pair cable. This, combined with the local integration of data recording and sequence control, shortens assembly times, significantly reduces physical space requirements in control cabinets, and minimizes engineering costs for commissioning.
