    🌟 Technology and Efficiency Combined

Siemens has introduced its next-generation Sinamics G drives for industrial applications. These drives aim to increase efficiency, simplify commissioning, and support predictive maintenance by combining cybersecurity, SIL3 functional safety, and digital engineering tools on a single platform.

⚙️ Unified Architecture for Seamless Motion Control

Modern automated manufacturing demands drive architectures that meet cybersecurity and functional safety requirements while reducing integration costs. Siemens' new Sinamics G series addresses these operational constraints in continuous motion and infrastructure systems. OEMs and process operators are forced to balance faster commissioning cycles with higher functional safety and in-depth network security.

    💡 Uniform Technology Platform

The new generation Sinamics G platform establishes a uniform technology base, integrating Sinamics G200, G210C, G210, and G210X with the existing Sinamics G220. This modular product range meets specific industrial requirements while maintaining the same user interface and engineering paradigm.

    • Sinamics G200: Designed for standard industrial conveyor, material handling, and general continuous motion tasks.
    • Sinamics G210C: Offers high power density and extended overload capacity for space-constrained machine enclosures.
    • Sinamics G210: Ideal for general-purpose automation tasks requiring integrated positioning and dynamic speed control.
    • Sinamics G210X: Includes specialized functional routines for process infrastructure, including fluid pumping, dynamic ventilation, and compressor automation.

🔒 Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Integration

As industrial network connectivity expands, drive systems become potential network entry points. The new generation Sinamics G hardware was developed with "Security by Design" principles to meet the requirements of the European Union Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The converter platform supports cybersecurity capabilities up to Security Level Capability 2 (SL-C 2) in accordance with the IEC 62443-4-2 standard for industrial automation and control systems.

Functional safety is integrated at the hardware level. The drives include certified hardware-based safety functions up to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3) in accordance with IEC 61508 and Performance Level e (PL e) / Category 4 under ISO 13849-1. Standard configurations include Safe Torque Off (STO) and Safe Stop 1 (SS1-t) without requiring auxiliary hardware contactors or external switching modules, which reduces panel space requirements and safety circuit wiring complexity.

💻 Engineering Workflows and Standardized Operational Data Interfaces

Integration throughout the product lifecycle relies on direct software integration into Siemens TIA Portal via Sinamics Startdrive and an integrated web server accessible via standard Ethernet connections. This architecture eliminates the need for specialized offline software installations during routine field service, firmware diagnostics, or drive replacement.

To support predictive maintenance architectures, the drives transmit machine metrics via the vendor-agnostic, Ethernet-based OPC UA protocol. Operational data points such as thermal loads, rotational speeds, DC-link voltages, and current consumption are streamed directly to plant supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, condition monitoring software, or cloud energy management tools without imposing computational load on the main programmable logic controller (PLC).

📊 Competitive Analysis and Technical Specifications

Industrial low-voltage variable frequency drives are evaluated based on motor commutation efficiency, as well as communication openness and cybersecurity certification. The integration of native IEC 62443-4-2 SL-C 2 compliance directly addresses upcoming regulatory mandates such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

In continuous motion and fluid management applications, the Sinamics G platform directly competes with established industrial converter families such as the ABB ACS580 series, Schneider Electric Altivar Process (ATV600/900), and Danfoss VLT AutomationDrive FC 302.

    • Functional Safety: The new generation Sinamics G series provides integrated hardware safety up to SIL 3 / PL e Cat. 4 via terminals or network-connected safety profiles.
    • Cybersecurity: Siemens has integrated IEC 62443-4-2 compliance into the core firmware of the G200/G210/G220 series.
    • Motor Control Support: The Sinamics G platform supports traditional asynchronous induction motors, as well as high-efficiency IE4 and IE5 synchronous reluctance (SynRM) and permanent magnet motors.
