Toshiba Electronics Europe has added four new models to its DCL34xx0B series of digital isolators, designed for industrial automation equipment. These new products offer integrated solutions for signal isolation in applications such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), input/output interfaces, sensors, actuators, and variable frequency drives.

The new digital isolators transmit digital signals across a galvanic barrier using magnetic coupling isolation technology. This enables very low power consumption, typically 0.2 milliamperes per channel. Supporting a wide supply voltage range from 2.25 V to 5.5 V, these devices can operate continuously across a broad temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C. These features are critically important, especially in industrial environments with significant temperature fluctuations, such as switched-mode power supplies.

Robust protection against electrical noise and ground loops is essential to maintain data integrity in automation systems. The new isolators support data rates up to 25 megabits/second while offering a minimum isolation voltage of 3000 Vrms. To manage electrical noise caused by industrial machinery, the devices feature a minimum Common Mode Transient Immunity (CMTI) of 30 kilovolts/microsecond. This is a vital parameter for stabilizing signals in motor inverters and variable frequency drives.

- DCL340L0B and DCL340H0B: Four forward channels (4:0 configuration).

This modular structure allows system designers to select the channel arrangement required for specific industrial communication protocols without altering the basic isolation architecture.
