  • πŸš€ AVEVA and IFS Collaboration Strengthens AI-Powered Decision-Making Mechanisms! πŸ’‘

Industrial software giants AVEVA and IFS aim to bridge the gap between insights derived from massive data piles collected by businesses and operational actions with a new AI-powered product. This collaboration paves the way for smarter maintenance, investment, and implementation decisions.

🀝 A Logical Partnership: AVEVA and IFS

AVEVA, a leader in industrial software, and IFS, prominent in AI-powered enterprise software for asset-intensive industries, have formed a highly logical partnership. Both companies have become heavyweights in digital transformation within their respective software expertise areas. IFS, in particular, has taken a very active role with AI-related software announcements over the past year.

βš™οΈ The Rise of Tech Giants

AVEVA, fully acquired by Schneider Electric in 2023, expanded its scope after its long-standing history in 3D plant design and CAD, focusing on areas such as operational control, digital twins, and industrial AI. This has become a forte adopted by IFS with its latest products, IFS Cloud and especially IFS.ai, which combines industrial-grade AI and agent automation with its enterprise resource planning and field service management offerings.

🌍 Continuous Asset Decision Intelligence: A New Era

AVEVA CEO Casper Herzberg and IFS CEO Mark Moffat announced their new collaboration at the AVEVA World event in Milan: Continuous Asset Decision Intelligence. This new solution transforms real-time operational and asset data obtained from Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connection points into smarter maintenance, investment, and implementation decisions for customers.

Herzberg stated, "Industrial intelligence only becomes real when you have the full picture. Our partnership with IFS connects data and insights from sensor to boardroom in powerful new ways. The architecture is right, the customer need is urgent, and the AI opportunity is now practical."

Moffat added, "IFS helps customers turn asset insights into action across maintenance, service, workforce, and capital planning. Together with AVEVA, we can provide customers with the operational context and enterprise AI to decide what work needs to be done, when it needs to be done, and whether it should be repaired, deferred, or replaced."

    πŸ“Š Overcoming Data Silos

According to the two companies, the core problem is that live operational data often remains with operations teams, while maintenance history, outage plans, spare parts, equipment capacity, and investment priorities are located elsewhere. For example, when a reliability engineer detects an anomaly, the maintenance planner has only partial information, making it difficult to determine if a similar failure has occurred before or if it is a one-off event.

This situation triggers important questions such as, "Should similar failures be expected at other facilities? Should the asset be repaired, its maintenance deferred, or replaced?"

πŸ€– Agent AI and Digital Workers

Last November, IFS introduced Loops, a suite of agent AI "digital workers" programmed with common skills such as field dispatch, supplier coordination, customer order management, and inventory replenishment. This agent AI product targets manufacturing, service industries, energy and utilities, telecommunications, aerospace and defense, and construction sectors. Its purpose is stated as freeing up human labor from more mundane tasks or "working alongside employees to improve operational performance by reducing manual work."

In April, IFS also announced the power of its "digital workers" and the launch of IFS Loops Agent Studio.

πŸ”— Connecting Decisions of Every Participant in the Value Chain

The AVEVA-IFS partnership introduced in Milan is designed to answer questions about how the decision flow is connected, where every participant in the value chain has the information and AI-enriched insight needed to act with speed and confidence.

Craig Resnick, Vice President at ARC Advisory Group, said, "What makes this AVEVA-IFS partnership compelling is that it closes the distance between insight and action. By combining real-time operational intelligence with enterprise application and strategic capital planning, Continuous Asset Decision Intelligence often transforms thousands of data points into a single, evidence-based decision flow. This allows teams to decide faster and with confidence what work needs to be done, when it needs to be done, and whether it should be repaired, deferred, or replaced."

Resnick also added, "Most importantly, it creates an auditable chain from asset condition to decision to outcome, which is becoming increasingly critical for boards, investors, and regulators."

The two companies listed the measurable outcomes for Continuous Asset Decision Intelligence as follows:

    • []IT/OT Simplification: A platform-to-platform architecture replaces custom point-to-point integrations, reducing integration costs and accelerating time to value.

      [
]Reliability: Real-time characterization of asset reliability issues autonomously prioritizes work orders with optimized team dispatch. Detect-to-respond latency drops from days or weeks to hours, and dynamic maintenance strategies replace calendar-based schedules.

[]Capital Efficiency: Operational and asset health insights enable risk-ranked investment decisions, helping teams direct capital to the work that best advances reliability, safety, and business objectives.

      [
]Regulatory and Investor Confidence: A continuous, auditable chain of evidence from asset condition to investment decisions and measurable performance outcomes becomes time-stamped and ready for regulators, boards, and investors.

✨ Conclusion: Future Industrial Decision-Making Mechanisms

This collaboration between AVEVA and IFS has the potential to revolutionize AI-powered decision-making processes in the industrial world. By eliminating data silos and combining operational insights with strategic decisions, companies will become more agile, efficient, and reliable. This will not only provide operational improvements but also create a more transparent and auditable environment for investors and regulators.
