Alva Industries Showcases Innovative Solutions at SPS 2026!
Alva Industries will introduce its advanced technology products for industrial automation at the SPS Smart Production Solutions exhibition, held in Nuremberg, Germany, from November 24-26, 2026. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience precision frameless motors produced with FiberPrinting technology and interactive automation demos developed with industry-leading partners.
Core Technology and System Architecture
Alva Industries' core technology consists of slotless frameless motor architectures produced through continuous fiber winding processes. These motor kits comprise a rotor and stator directly integrated into the main machine bodies without traditional outer casings, coupling shafts, or specialized bearing arrangements. The elimination of the slotted iron core removes magnetic reluctance variations, ensuring zero cogging torque and negligible torque ripple. The design features a large through-bore aperture, allowing mechanical drive components, cables, or optical paths to pass through the center of the motor assembly.
Application and Integration
The systems are applied through modular integration into custom actuator designs and high-precision direct drive configurations. A super-short actuator, developed in collaboration with Nabtesco, combines frameless stator and rotor components with cycloidal precision gears, supported by digital motor controllers developed by adcos. In an assembly developed with Siboni, a direct drive unit integrates a frameless motor with a FLUX inductive rotary encoder to provide closed-loop position feedback. System prototyping and parameter calculation are performed via the TorqStudio digital platform, which allows engineers to configure winding options and thermal limits prior to production.
Industrial Applications
Target sectors include robotics, semiconductor processing, precision optical gimbals, optronics, medical exoskeletons, and automotive test simulators. In semiconductor and optronics applications, zero-cogging frameless direct drives eliminate speed ripple during low-speed tracking operations. In robotic joint design and exoskeletons, frameless configurations allow planetary or cycloidal gearboxes to be nested within the motor diameter, minimizing axial length and maximizing mechanical stiffness.
Operational Impact and Performance Metrics
The integration of frameless direct drive and compact gearing systems provides measurable improvements in power density and machine geometry. The Super Short Actuator achieves approximately a thirty percent reduction in total axial length and overall mass compared to conventional servo motor-gearbox combinations. Frameless motors with outer diameters of 39 millimeters, 64 millimeters, and 88 millimeters provide dynamic overload capacity by maintaining high peak torque thresholds without magnetic saturation. The elimination of mechanical transmissions in direct drive configurations removes mechanical backlash, enhancing positioning accuracy, thermal dissipation, and long-term drivetrain reliability in demanding industrial automation systems.
