Physical AI Training for Future Talents

ABB Robotics has developed a training program focused on physical artificial intelligence, powered by NVIDIA AI technologies, to prepare talents for the future of AI in industry.

Marc Segura, President of ABB Robotics, states that AI is moving beyond digital environments and integrating into robotics and industrial production, inspection, transport, assembly, and maintenance systems. Segura said, "Physical AI is reshaping the skills needed in industrial environments. As these industrial-grade intelligent systems are prepared for large-scale deployment, talent readiness is critical for successful implementation. The full potential of Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVRTM) can only be achieved with the right skills."

    Skills Gap and Proposed Solutions

In the white paper supporting the program's launch, research by ABB Robotics and NVIDIA revealed that 53% of companies are trying to increase their AI proficiency, but 84% are not redesigning jobs around AI capabilities. The bulletin identifies the necessary skills and learning approaches and emphasizes that academic institutions, employers, technology organizations, and industrial bodies must work together within a single connected system to provide the necessary training framework for physical AI.

    Joint Learning Program and Certification

ABB Robotics and NVIDIA will collaborate on a formal learning program to develop the skills required for physical AI. This program aims to transform talent needs into learning opportunities for the next generation of robotics and automation talents. The program will include hands-on learning with ABB RobotStudio and NVIDIA Omniverse and will provide a certification in robotics, simulation, and physical AI upon completion.

    Industrial Collaboration and Future Vision

Developed with contributions from Amazon Web Services, AsiaInfo, Deloitte, and SKAI Intelligence, the white paper brings together perspectives from manufacturing, robotics, cloud and AI infrastructure, higher education, professional learning, and industry research. Its core message is that industrial physical AI will scale not just through technology investment, but by people being able to translate potential into continuously evolving manufacturing systems.

ABB Robotics and NVIDIA are further exploring how these skills can be developed through a physical AI training solution that combines practical learning simulation, AI development, and robotics. This solution was showcased at NVIDIA GTC Berlin.

Physical AI is advancing industrial robotics beyond programmed tasks, making simulation, intelligent control, and workforce skills essential for successful deployment. The collaboration between ABB Robotics and NVIDIA highlights an important point: industrial AI needs both advanced technology and people who know how to apply it.
