What is High Voltage (HV) Operational Responsibility?

High voltage (HV) facilities are electrical installations that include transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, protection equipment, and power transmission-distribution components, and whose operation requires special technical knowledge and expertise. HV operational responsibility service is carried out to ensure the safe and compliant operation of these facilities.

The main purpose of HV operational responsibility is to ensure the safety of life and property, reduce electrical risks, operate the facility reliably, and monitor necessary technical controls in high voltage facilities.

Who is the HV Operations Manager?​

The HV operations manager is an electrical engineer with the necessary competence under the relevant legislation. The operations manager monitors the operational safety of the high voltage facility, reports identified technical deficiencies to the operation, and ensures that necessary measures are taken.

factories, industrial facilities, hotels, hospitals, shopping malls, production facilities, large commercial buildings, warehouses, and businesses that receive energy from a private transformer are among the facilities that need to be evaluated in terms of high voltage operational safety.

The obligations to be applied should also be evaluated separately according to the facility's connection type, voltage level, transformer power, and operational characteristics.

Are HV Operational Responsibility and Transformer Maintenance the Same Thing?

HV operational responsibility and transformer maintenance are different services.

HV operational responsibility is an engineering service aimed at the safe operation of the high voltage facility, monitoring its technical condition, and determining necessary measures.

Transformer and HV maintenance services, on the other hand, cover applications such as maintenance, cleaning, testing, measurement, and, if necessary, part replacement carried out on transformers, cells, circuit breakers, connection points, and other high voltage equipment.
