Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has introduced two new EPDM rubber series that reduce the environmental impact of industrial polymers. These new products offer up to a 55% lower product carbon footprint (PCF) compared to traditional EPDMs.

    ### Features of the New EPDM Rubbers
    • Available in two types: E7T11 with 70 Shore A hardness and E8T12 with 80 Shore A hardness.
    • Environmental impact reduced without compromising performance.
    • Bio-series derived from renewable sources, particularly used cooking oil, straw, forest waste, and tall oil, are used as raw materials.
    • Since raw materials are sourced from circular resources, the carbon footprint in the compound shows a reduction of up to 61%.
    • The final products offer similar performance to fossil-based EPDM elastomers.

    ### Application Areas
    • Ideal for the production of O-rings, gaskets, and custom-designed parts.
    • Suitable for use in automotive, manufacturing, automation, energy, agriculture, construction, and mining equipment.
    • Used in engines, doors, pumps, valves, line connection seals, home appliances, air cylinders, solar panels, marine hatches and skids, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, freezing, and refrigeration systems.

    ### Environmental and Certification Details
    • The bio-series used in the new EPDM compounds, developed in collaboration with Arlanxeo, are ISCC PLUS certified and traceable via the "mass balance method."
    • Trelleborg creates the compounds by combining polymers with recycled carbon black.
    • Carbon footprint calculations are performed using a methodology that is in the process of being verified by Sphera Solutions and DEKRA.

These new EPDM products offer alternatives that reduce environmental impact through the use of sustainable raw materials while maintaining high performance standards in industrial applications.
