Festo has introduced the SDAC-MHS model, a compact and programmable position transmitter for pneumatic cylinders and grippers. This device provides position feedback while combining analog, digital, and IO-Link outputs in a single compact package.

    ### SDAC-MHS Position Transmitter Features
    • Detects the piston position of pneumatic actuators using the Hall effect principle
    • Monitors magnetic field changes with C-slot mounting
    • Its compact size does not restrict the movement range of robotic systems
    • Available in two common cylinder diameters: 20 mm (analog output) and 30 mm (IO-Link output)
    • Fulfills the function of two limit switches with a single sensor
    • Programmable via IO-Link, all data transfer is done with a single cable
    • Features two programmable switching outputs (digital 24 V or 0-10 V analog)
    • Detects position changes with high resolution, 0.05 mm accuracy
    • Available in IP65 and IP68 protection classes, with different cable lengths and connector options

    ### Usage and Integration
The SDAC-MHS offers an ideal solution for applications such as small pneumatic cylinders and robotic grippers. Its small physical size allows for precise position detection without restricting the movement of other components in the system. Additionally, the device can be used as a limit switch; this way, the cylinder exceeding defined limits can be prevented via a digital output.

The device's variety of digital, analog, and IO-Link outputs enables easy integration into existing automation systems and reduces assembly and wiring work by replacing more complex, multi-component sensing systems.

The Festo SDAC-MHS position transmitter stands out as an innovative technology that increases efficiency in automation and robotic applications.
