Global 300mm semiconductor manufacturing equipment spending is projected to increase by 18% to $133 billion in 2026, and then by another 14% to $151 billion in 2027. This growth is driven by demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips and investments in advanced manufacturing nodes.

    ### Reasons for Investment Growth
    • Rapidly increasing demand for AI chips for data centers and edge devices
    • Localization of semiconductors and self-sufficiency strategies through regional industrial ecosystems and supply chain restructuring

    ### Expected Investment Trends
According to a SEMI report, global 300mm fab equipment investment is forecast to increase by 3% to $155 billion in 2028, and then by 11% to $172 billion in 2029.

Ajit Manocha, SEMI President, stated, "AI is reshaping the scale of semiconductor manufacturing investments. 300mm fab equipment spending surpassing $150 billion for the first time in 2027 signals a historic and enduring commitment to advanced capacity and resilient supply chains in the industry."

    ### Investment Figures by Segment
    • Logic & Micro: Leading with $228 billion in investments between 2027-2029. Demand for advanced manufacturing nodes, particularly 2nm and below, supports this growth.
    • Memory: Second with $175 billion in expenditures. DRAM equipment spending accounts for $111 billion, while 3D NAND equipment is at $62 billion.

AI training and inference are boosting memory segment investments by increasing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and NAND Flash storage.

    ### Regional Investment Trends
    • China, Taiwan, Korea, and America will make significant expenditures with advanced node expansions and memory capacity increases.
    • Japan, Europe & Middle East, and Southeast Asia will continue to increase their investments thanks to government incentives and supply chain resilience strategies.

    ### About SEMI
