NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Showcased the Future of Automation at SPS 2026​

At the SPS trade fair, held from November 24-26, 2026, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS introduced its portfolio of drive systems and digital services that enable leveraging the possibilities offered by connected system architectures. The company drew attention with a practical model demonstrating the relationship between virtual commissioning with digital twins and real drive optimization. Additionally, the IIoT solution NORD DRIVE MONITOR and the NORD ECO service were also significant parts of the fair presentation.

Predictive Maintenance at Your Fingertips with NORD DRIVE MONITOR​

At NORD's booth, visitors had the opportunity to examine NORD DRIVE MONITOR, a valuable tool for predictive maintenance, up close. This IIoT solution enables predictive maintenance (PdM) by providing dynamically calculated and sensor-captured operating values of electronic drive systems for condition monitoring (CM). Thanks to NORD DRIVE MONITOR, users can detect anomalies and wear at an early stage, planning maintenance activities before damage occurs or the system stops.

New Developments in Functional Safety for NORDAC ON Frequency Inverters​

There were also significant innovations in the field of functional safety. The decentralized NORDAC ON frequency inverter product family received a comprehensive safety upgrade. These new functions are highly beneficial, especially for use in automation environments. In addition to STO and SS1, safe motion functions such as SLS, SMS, or SSM for fault-free control of rotary motion have also been integrated. NORDAC ON provides safe stop functions (Safe Torque Off and Safe Stop 1), as well as safe control of a drive system's speeds (Safety Limited Speed, Safe Maximum Speed, and Safe Speed Monitor). Safe digital inputs and outputs allow direct connection of fail-safe peripheral components such as emergency stop buttons, safety door switches, or photocells.

Efficiency Analysis During Operation with NORD ECO​

At SPS, NORD provided information about its NORD ECO service. This service reveals the truly used and unused energy of a drive system, enabling the determination of the configuration with the lowest energy consumption. Based on the analysis data, NORD prepares a design proposal to optimize the sizing of drive systems and thus improve the system's performance and efficiency.

Future-Oriented Solutions with Virtual Commissioning and Digital Twin​

NORD offers the option to request a model file as a digital twin for selected products. This allows a component or an entire system to be tested in a virtual environment. Virtual commissioning enables quick identification of potential errors or the need for further optimization before the chosen configuration is implemented. Visitors had the opportunity to experience firsthand how this is applied at the exhibition booth.

myNORD Customer Portal and Other Digital Services​

NORD's expert team also introduced other digital services, such as the myNORD customer portal, at SPS 2026. This portal allows registered users to explore NORD's portfolio and find the right components and drive systems. myNORD is continuously updated and expanded with new features.
