đź’ˇ Compact Design, Maximum Efficiency
Teradyne has introduced UltraFLEXplus S, a new series of automated test equipment (ATE) specifically designed for Edge AI semiconductors. The first model in the series, the 24-slot UltraFLEXplus S24, aims to maximize efficiency per square meter, especially for high-mix chip production and variable-volume manufacturing environments. This compact tester saves production space while addressing the economic constraints of integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) providers.
⚙️ Software Continuity and Engineering Ease
Unlike the UltraFLEXplus Q series, which is designed for cloud infrastructures, the S series minimizes its cleanroom footprint with a single-module architecture. Despite this compact structure, it ensures full compatibility with Teradyne's IG-XL software environment and existing modular instrument ecosystem. This allows engineers to reuse previously developed test program libraries, significantly reducing engineering time and costs for new product introductions.
🎯 Wide Application Area and High Performance
The UltraFLEXplus S24 is designed to optimize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and supports all evaluation stages, from engineering development to mass production. It covers a wide range of components, including microcontrollers (MCUs), multimedia processors, and Edge AI devices used in the automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics sectors, including rigorous thermal tests performed at three different temperatures.
📊 Solutions for Edge AI Testing Challenges
In the semiconductor industry, data center chips typically follow a "low-mix, high-volume" production model, while the Edge AI and Internet of Things (IoT) market requires a "high-mix, variable-volume" model. OSAT providers frequently have to reconfigure test lines to switch from an industrial machine vision sensor to an automotive microcontroller. In this context, cleanroom space becomes a critical resource. Compact, single-module testers like the UltraFLEXplus S24 increase equipment density on the production floor while offering rapid instrument card reconfiguration flexibility to adapt to the pin count and frequency requirements of each new peripheral component.
