Schaeffler and Wandelbots Collaborate on Physical AI and Open Robotics Platform​

Schaeffler AG and Wandelbots have signed a technology partnership to integrate the Wandelbots NOVA platform, aiming to advance artificial intelligence in industrial robotic operations and scale it across their global production networks. This collaboration targets the comprehensive implementation of AI in industrial and humanoid robotics across Schaeffler's manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Technical Architecture and Virtual Testing​

The Wandelbots NOVA platform connects various robot systems through a standardized software infrastructure. The partners utilize NVIDIA's Omniverse and Isaac Sim technologies for digitally testing the systems. This virtual environment allows for the digital simulation, validation, and optimization of production workflows and robot tasks before transitioning to physical production. This facilitates standardization and supports efficient deployment.

System Scaling and Central Skill Repository​

Validated control models, applications, models, and technical knowledge are systematically secured and collected in a central Skill Repository. This infrastructure enables Schaeffler to utilize capabilities developed in individual projects independently of the respective system and scale them globally to other facilities. The standardization of development and implementation processes aims to reduce the lifecycle costs of automation solutions in new and existing production environments by up to 40%.

Industrial Application and Automation​

The technical feasibility of Physical AI in production forms the basis for accelerated application development to increase robot flexibility.
