š” A New Era in AI Vision: Innodisk GMSL2⢠Camera Starter Kit
Innodisk has introduced an all-in-one GMSL2⢠Camera Starter Kit to accelerate edge AI vision applications. This kit aims to significantly shorten development cycles by simplifying multi-camera integration, especially in automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver-Driver Assistance Systems) and robotic applications.
š¦ Kit Contents and Advantages
The new starter kit includes four 3MP GMSL2⢠camera modules, a capture card, FAKRA cables, and other necessary accessories. Additionally, full camera source code for NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano is included in the package. This allows customers to set up and validate multi-camera systems right out of the box, thereby shortening the time from proof of concept (PoC) to deployment.
ā±ļø End to Integration Challenges
As AI vision moves towards multi-camera sensing in robotics and smart vehicles, camera, capture card, driver, and host platform integration has become increasingly complex, potentially taking six months or more before validation. Innodisk's kit, with its pre-integrated hardware and software drivers, accelerates time-to-market for system integrators.
āļø GMSL2⢠Technology and Flexibility
Originating from automotive applications, GMSL2⢠is a high-speed video transmission technology offering long-distance connectivity. The kit comes with four 3MP fixed-focus GMSL2⢠camera modules, a capture card, four FAKRA cables, a power adapter, and a quick start guide. The camera source code provided for the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit allows users to bypass steps such as component sourcing, system-level integration, driver debugging, and tuning.
šÆ Focus and Development
CK Hsu, Senior Manager of Innodisk's Camera Product Business Unit, stated, "The biggest challenge in a multi-camera AI vision project is often not the AI application itself, but the preceding camera integration and system adjustments." He added, "With the GMSL2⢠Camera Starter Kit, Innodisk takes on the complexity of early-stage integration, enabling customers to focus on development and move to PoC earlier."
š ļø Seamless Customization and Expansion
Engineering teams can independently adapt the software driver to their requirements using the provided camera source code and use the kit as a foundation for further development. Innodisk also offers comprehensive customization services, from hardware fine-tuning to application deployment, helping customers transition seamlessly to design and mass production.
This kit supports edge AI scenarios such as blind spot detection and ADAS for heavy-duty vehicles, and object recognition and environmental sensing for humanoid robots and AMRs. Innodisk plans to expand its GMSL2⢠portfolio and offer more starter kits covering different camera models and supported platforms.
