✨ Next-Generation Microcontrollers from Infineon
Infineon is introducing a new scalable microcontroller architecture with advanced hardware security and precise analog processing, designed to optimize industrial drives and digital infrastructure.
⚙️ Designed for Multi-Motor Control and Power Conversion
Infineon is expanding its digital infrastructure portfolio with the PSOC Control C3 Main Line PSC3M/P6 microcontrollers. These chips have been specifically developed to manage multi-motor control and power conversion systems. They are used in industrial drives, robotics, renewable energy grids, data centers, and telecommunication servers to manage high-speed switching and complex power topologies.
🧠 Concurrent Multi-Motor Control Architecture
These microcontrollers utilize an Arm Cortex-M33 core operating at speeds up to 180 MHz to achieve the fast control loops required for precise operations. By integrating high-speed digital control and precise analog processing, including on-chip operational amplifiers, a single unit can simultaneously operate up to four brushless DC motors in sensored or sensorless configurations. This processing capability allows for managing power factor correction and very high RPM motor applications without requiring additional printed circuit board space. Furthermore, the architecture is wide-bandgap ready, efficiently interfacing with next-generation power electronics to enhance overall control loop accuracy and system efficiency.
🔒 Hardware-Level Security and Cryptography Compliance
As connected digital infrastructure faces evolving regulatory requirements, these microcontrollers include robust hardware-level protections to ensure firmware integrity. The components support Platform Security Architecture Level 3 enablement and Device Identifier Composition Engine protocols. Additionally, the microcontrollers comply with post-quantum cryptography requirements specified in the Commercial National Security Algorithm Suite 2.0. These integrated security mechanisms help manufacturers meet the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act while protecting power supply units and connected devices against cryptographic vulnerabilities emerging in the post-quantum era.
💻 System Integration and Software Deployment
To support deployment in areas such as digital health, drones, and smart home appliances, the microcontrollers integrate USB and I3C interfaces for comprehensive system communication. Steve Tateosian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infineon IoT, Consumer, and Industrial MCUs, states that the components are designed to meet the industrial demand for faster control loops and improved efficiency in multi-motor configurations. Engineering teams can configure the hardware using the ModusToolbox Power Suite and Motor Suite graphical user interfaces, which provide the necessary unified software frameworks and advanced libraries for system optimization and migration.
