⚙️ TURCK Expands CMVT Series
TURCK has introduced the single-axis CMVT-M8TE vibration sensor, designed for condition monitoring of rotating machinery. This sensor provides uncompressed raw acceleration data via IO-Link BLOB transfer, enabling detailed analysis of equipment such as drives, gearboxes, pumps, centrifuges, and industrial fans.
📊 Detailed Analysis with Raw Data Stream
Instead of internally compressing vibration measurements, the CMVT-M8TE directly transmits raw acceleration data from its MEMS sensing element using IO-Link's Binary Large Object (BLOB) transfer protocol. Operating at sampling rates up to 64 kHz, the sensor can capture up to 320,000 individual samples per measurement burst. This allows maintenance teams to easily distinguish issues like dynamic imbalance, shaft misalignment, and bearing damage.

Vibration evaluation is performed in accordance with DIN ISO 10816-3 criteria, while integrated algorithmic diagnostics provide bearing health assessment across four standardized condition layers according to DIN ISO 13373-3.
TURCK Automation Suite (TAS) software supports local BLOB transfer and frequency domain processing with Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis. Triggered by operator input, this tool captures a configurable recording window of several seconds to display cyclic parameters, time-series acceleration plots, and frequency spectra. All captured data can be exported in CSV format. For independent verification, only the sensor, an IO-Link master module, and a PC are required.

System integration accommodates three different control architectures:
- Local Alerts: Two internal PNP switching outputs operate independently on defined threshold events, directly activating status lights without PLC intervention.
- Integrated Machine Architectures: Cyclic process parameters continuously stream via IO-Link or 4–20 mA analog output.
- In-Depth Diagnostics: Control programs can directly initiate IO-Link BLOB transmission to perform raw data processing within the automation controller.
Mechanical mounting adapts to various machine interfaces thanks to the integrated M8 male thread. Optional magnetic bases and threaded adaptation hardware are also available.

Industrial MEMS piezoresistive and capacitive accelerometers operate with high resonant frequencies to maintain flat frequency responses across a 10 Hz to 10 kHz vibration bandwidth for broadband machine diagnostics. According to DIN ISO 10816-3 (superseded by ISO 20816-3), vibration severity is determined using root-mean-square (RMS) vibration velocity across defined machine support classes (rigid or flexible foundations) to assess mechanical imbalance, looseness, and structural resonance. High-frequency sampling up to 64 kHz is essential for calculating high-frequency acceleration metrics such as True Peak, Crest Factor, and Kurtosis, as well as demodulated envelope analysis (Hilbert transform) required to isolate bearing fault frequencies (BPFO, BPFI, BSF) according to DIN ISO 13373-3. The IO-Link BLOB transfer mechanism overcomes the standard 32-byte cyclic process data exchange limitation, facilitating acyclic transport of large structured data blocks using IO-Link COM3 (230.4 kbaud) transmission speeds over standard unshielded three-wire industrial cables, and directly streaming raw vibration sequences to edge processing gateways.
