Next-Generation Collaborative Robot from Epson: AX6​


Epson has introduced its new collaborative robot, the AX6, featuring a carbon body designed to meet the demanding requirements of cleanroom and industrial automation. This robot aims to provide flexibility and efficiency, especially in environments with space constraints and high hygiene standards.

Entry into the Southeast Asian Market​


The AX6 has been launched in the Southeast Asian market. It is designed to facilitate automation in the pharmaceutical, logistics, automotive, and electronics manufacturing sectors in this region. Supporting human-machine collaboration, the AX6 eliminates the need for major changes to existing infrastructure.

Lightweight and Mobile Design​


One of the most striking features of the AX6 is its lightweight 17-kilogram carbon body. This allows for easy integration onto mobile platforms and compatibility with autonomous mobile robot (AMR) or automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems. Both AC and DC power support enable the robot to function as a wireless and mobile manipulation point within the facility.

Easy to Use and Program​


Designed with the shortage of skilled technical labor in mind, the AX6 offers control interfaces suitable for different levels of expertise. Operators can easily guide the robot with hand-guided teaching functions, while visual block programming and standard development languages such as Python and Robot Operating System (ROS) are supported for programmed sequences. This allows for customization of complex robotic behaviors and integration with external vision systems.

Hygiene and Safety Standards​


The AX6 meets critical hygiene standards for cleanroom environments. Its screwless outer casing, internal cabling, and pneumatic tubes prevent particle accumulation. It boasts an ISO Class 5 cleanroom classification and IP54 dust and splash resistance. To ensure safe operation with humans, it includes integrated safety protocols such as Power and Force Limiting (PFL), Safe Operating Stop (SOS), Safe Limited Speed (SLS), and Safe Limited Position (SLP).

Competitive Advantage​


Among collaborative robots with medium-range payload capacity, the AX6 stands out for its lightness. Thanks to its carbon fiber structure, it is lighter than similar products (e.g., Universal Robots UR5e or Omron TM5 series), providing greater payload capacity and longer battery life in mobile robotic applications.
