Dunkermotoren has launched entry-level actuators with integrated logic that simplify machine architecture and automate decentralized speed regulation. The dGo motor family aims to streamline decentralized drive concepts with integrated commutation electronics in brushless direct current (BLDC) drive systems. These actuators are specifically designed for conveyor rollers, liquid pumps, ventilation fans, and auxiliary axes in industrial automation that require repeatable speed control.

⚙️ Streamlining Decentralized Drive Concepts ⚙️​


Standard automation systems often utilize auxiliary axes that require stable speed regulation rather than complex positioning profiles. Employing high-performance servo controllers for these fundamental tasks increases engineering effort, wiring complexity, and commissioning time. The dGo series addresses this technical gap by embedding the necessary control intelligence directly into the motor housing, eliminating the need for separate external controllers and reducing the overall hardware footprint.

Motor speed is regulated via supply voltage modulation, analog signal, or pulse width modulation (PWM) inputs. Digital inputs and outputs manage basic operations such as starting, stopping, and direction reversal. Since the system operates without fieldbus communication protocols, machine manufacturers can integrate these motors directly via standard programmable logic controller (PLC) I/Os. Michael Burgert, Product Manager at Dunkermotoren, states that the hardware provides reliable BLDC performance and simple control for motion axes that do not require full servo programmability.

The product family consists of three distinct series to meet varying power requirements and installation constraints within a single motion control platform: BGA 22, BG 42, and BG 45.

  • BGA 22 dGo: Designed for confined installation spaces. It offers quiet operation and smooth rotation mechanics thanks to its ironless core architecture. It provides up to 24 watts of continuous power and up to 236 watts of peak power output.
  • BG 42 dGo: For applications requiring higher continuous torque, this 42-millimeter diameter model provides up to 96 watts of continuous power and up to 214 watts of peak power. Thanks to its integrated four-quadrant control system, it offers controlled acceleration, active braking, and direction reversal, making it ideal for conveyor lines and material handling systems that require frequent direction change cycles.
  • BG 45 dGo: This extends physical capabilities to more demanding industrial environments, offering protection ratings up to IP65 and multiple hardware mounting configurations. In all models, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can pre-configure operational parameters at the factory. Specific functional sequences such as fixed rotational speeds, defined acceleration and deceleration ramps, current limits, and autonomous blocking detection are written directly into the motor electronics. By offloading these sequences to the drive, the main control hardware handles fewer localized logic tasks.

The IP65 rating on the BG 45 model aligns with robust industrial standards seen in maxon's IDX compact drives, providing protection against dust and low-pressure water jets for local distribution in wet production environments. Furthermore, the ironless stator design of the BGA 22 eliminates magnetic detent torque, ensuring a linear speed-torque gradient comparable to premium coreless competitors, which particularly optimizes low-speed stability.
