Rockwell Automation and Augury have formed a technological partnership to integrate machine health monitoring systems with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). This collaboration aims to increase the operational efficiency of businesses.

📊 A Revolution in Data Utilization​


Although industrial facilities collect tons of operational data, less than half of this data is effectively used in maintenance processes. While standalone machine monitoring systems can generate failure alerts, they may fall short in automating maintenance workflows. At this point, unified data interfaces between diagnostic systems and enterprise maintenance software are critical to bridge the gap between fault detection and work order execution.

⚙️ Technical Architecture and Functional Roles​


This integrated solution combines Augury's condition monitoring and diagnostic capabilities with Rockwell Automation's asset management software stack, specifically Fiix CMMS and the FactoryTalk Optix visualization platform.

  • Augury: Provides the machine diagnostics layer. It continuously analyzes vibration, acoustic, and temperature data to detect mechanical anomalies, diagnose failure modes, and offer corrective recommendations.
  • Rockwell Automation: Manages the execution layer. It processes diagnostic findings from Augury through an integrated AI maintenance assistant, automating work order creation, planning maintenance tasks, and allocating necessary resources.

🔄 Operational Workflows and System Implementation​


The integrated architecture creates a closed-loop reliability workflow across production assets:

  • Anomaly Detection: Machine sensors transmit physical parameters to the diagnostic system, determining baseline operational health and detecting early-stage component degradation.
  • Automated Translation: Verified diagnostic reports are automatically transferred to the maintenance management software via standard interfaces without manual data entry.
  • Execution Planning: The system automatically drafts work orders, including the fault context, required parts, and recommended corrective actions for technician assignment.
  • Operational Context: Combining machine health analytics with production planning allows facilities to prioritize repairs based on operational impact and planned downtime.

This system configuration is designed to reduce the delay between fault detection and physical repair, ensuring process stability in discrete and process-based manufacturing operations. The integrated solution is scheduled for commercial release in September.
