    Vision Components has introduced new Edge AI camera modules that combine embedded processing, high-resolution sensors, and MIPI interfaces in embedded vision systems. These innovations are aimed at machine vision, edge analytics, and industrial imaging applications.

    ### VC EvoCam and MIPI Camera Modules

    At the Embedded Vision Summit 2026, to be held in Santa Clara, California, from May 11-13, 2026, Vision Components will introduce the compact and integrated VC EvoCam and two new MIPI camera modules. The systems reduce latency and system complexity by combining sensing and processing at the edge.

    ### VC EvoCam Features

    • Size: Small form factor of 65 x 40 mm
    • Processor: MediaTek Genio 510
    • Processor cores: 2 x ARM Cortex-A78 and 4 x Cortex-A55
    • GPU: ARM Mali
    • NPU: 3.2 TOPS AI performance
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM, 16 GB flash, SD 3.0 expansion
    • Operating System: Customized Debian Linux
    • Image Sensors: Internal sensor or up to 2 remotely connected cameras
    • Example Sensor: Sony IMX900 global shutter, 3.2 MP
    • Interfaces: I/O, I²C, USB, Ethernet, Video DSI, PCIe
    • Development Kit: Minimal interface board with power, trigger, flash control, USB, LAN connections, and a development kit with full signal breakout support (launch Q3 2026)

    - Resolution: 24.5 MP (5328 x 4608)
    - Frame Rate: 22 FPS, 8 bit
    - Feature: Distortion-free images of fast-moving objects with global shutter
    - Use: Robotics, quality control, human detection

    ### Modular Development Ecosystem

    The new MIPI cameras are compatible with the VC MIPI ecosystem, which includes over 50 supported sensors and a standard development infrastructure. Source code drivers provide support. The VC MIPI Bricks system offers micro-coaxial and GMSL2 cable options (up to 10 m transmission), FPGA-based accelerators, and custom camera configurations.

    ### Edge AI and Embedded Vision Solutions

    The VC EvoCam's integrated AI processing capabilities and high-resolution MIPI modules enhance the concept of distributed intelligence in embedded vision systems. This enables rapid decision-making in many applications, from industrial automation to robotics and smart surveillance.

    The launch at the Embedded Vision Summit highlights the widespread adoption of edge AI applications through the standardization of modular hardware and software stacks.
