HANNOVER MESSE 2026 revealed that industry offers concrete solutions despite challenging conditions. Artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalization played critical roles in making production processes more efficient and increasing competitiveness.
A total of 110,000 visitors from around the world attended the fair. Although this was lower than last year's 123,000 visitors (2025), and airline and public transport strikes made travel difficult, the quality of the participants and the dynamic atmosphere in the halls clearly show that technologies are ready, approaches have been tested, and now consistent implementation is needed.
### Key Fair Details
- 40% international participation was achieved.
- Most visitors came from China, Brazil, USA, Japan, and South Korea.
- Board members of DAX companies and political decision-makers played an active role in the fair.
### Key Technologies of the Future
This year's fair emphasized that artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and energy infrastructure are central to the future of industry. Participants presented:
- AI-supported production systems and process automation solutions,
- Humanoid robots capable of performing complex movements,
- Systems contributing to carbon-neutral industry goals with energy efficiency and grid expansion solutions.
### Strong Messages from the Sector
Industry representatives stated that Europe's business environment is under pressure. High costs, excessive regulations, and geopolitical changes negatively affect companies' competitiveness. However, companies are investing in future technologies and opening new markets through innovation.
Dr. Gunther Kegel, President of ZVEI, stated that the new concept of HANNOVER MESSE attracted great interest and emphasized the importance of rapid deregulation. He said that barriers from Berlin and Brussels must be removed to succeed in international competition in industrial artificial intelligence.
Thilo Brodtmann, Managing Director of VDMA, stated that digitalization is progressing rapidly and that the main themes of the fair were artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics. He underlined the importance of politicians fulfilling their promised reforms.
### Brazil: Strategic Cooperation Partner
Partner Country Brazil stood out as a dynamic growth market and a reliable business partner with its comprehensive presentations on industry, energy, and digitalization. The Mercosur agreement was highlighted as strengthening economic cooperation.
### Fair Concept and Innovations
The new fair layout provided clear guidance to visitors, allowing them to use their time more efficiently. Masterclasses enabled participating companies to interact directly with potential customers. The Center Stage platform attracted intense interest for knowledge transfer and inspiration, hosting approximately 30,000 visitors.
### Future Vision: HANNOVER MESSE 2027
In 2027, the fair will become more focused and efficient. The "Europe Energy Week" event will bring together stakeholders in the energy and industry sectors. The fair duration will be optimized by increasing intensity between April 5-8. The integration of artificial intelligence with machinery and production systems will be the main theme of the fair in the coming years.
