## Yaskawa Triton Platform: Industrial Communication and Motion Control on a Single Chip
Yaskawa has introduced its new PCIe-based TRITON platform, which integrates industrial communication, motion control, and PLC functionalities into a single hardware unit.
TRITON is a multi-protocol industrial fieldbus platform built on the ProfiChip Triton CPU. It combines Gigabit Ethernet communication, PLC functionality, backplane master capabilities, and motion control into one automation platform.
### All-in-One Architecture for Real-Time Applications
Unlike traditional fieldbus adapters, TRITON is a fully-fledged industrial system that integrates real-time communication, motion control, and PLC logic into a single, high-performance platform. Thanks to its specialized industrial processor, it consolidates functions that previously required separate hardware, thereby reducing system complexity.
### Use Cases and Expansion Possibilities
This card can serve as a real-time controller for robots or industrial machines, a high-performance fieldbus node, a PLC and motion control platform in industrial Ethernet environments, or an interface for connecting with external systems. It is designed for future expansions such as IoT integration and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN).
### Protocol Support and System Compatibility
In terms of communication, TRITON supports PROFINET IO-Device and IO-Controller modes (including PROFIsafe communication) and EtherCAT slave mode. It is compatible with the YRC1000 controller from YAS5.70 and later versions, and with the YRC1000micro from YBS4.21 onwards.
The card architecture includes physically separated networks for master and slave functions, ensuring precise communication while supporting industrial safety requirements and compliance with European regulations.
### Proprietary Hardware and European Development
TRITON is a wholly Yaskawa-owned product, with both its hardware and software developed and manufactured in Germany. It ensures technological development control and long-term compatibility by providing direct integration with the Drives Motion Controls engineering teams.
