    ## SIAM Concludes Sustainability Week 2026 with International AMCS Conference

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) concluded its Sustainability Week 2026 with the International Automotive Material Compliance & Sustainability (AMCS) Conference, reinforcing its commitment to creating a responsible, circular, and future-ready automotive ecosystem.

The event commenced with an inaugural session titled "India's Transition to Sustainable Mobility and Material Compliance." Prashant K. Banerjee, a member of the SIAM Governing Council, stated that as the world's third-largest automotive industry, India is advancing sustainable mobility with global safety standards, material management, and decarbonization focused on the circular economy.

    ### Importance and Theme of the Conference

The conference, which was the grand finale of the four-day Sustainability Week, was held under the theme "Driving Circularity, Compliance, and Innovation in the Global Automotive Supply Chain." With the participation of international regulators, industry leaders, technology experts, and policymakers, the urgency of accelerating India's transition to sustainable materials, end-of-life vehicle management, and transparent digital supply chains was emphasized.

    ### Highlights of the Conference

During the event, a context paper titled "Strengthening Automotive Material Compliance Across the Vehicle Value Chain" was released. Jaywant Hardikar, Senior Consultant at ICAT, stated that sustainable mobility is crucial for future generations and that high resource consumption comes at a cost in terms of emissions. He emphasized the critical role of circularity in the product lifecycle and the necessity of establishing a strong connection with reuse at the end of a vehicle's life.

Hardikar also stated that there should be measurable targets for reducing the carbon footprint, and solutions such as a Sustainability Index or a digital product passport for each vehicle would play a key role in determining sustainability.

    ### SIAM's Vision

SIAM states that the 2025 End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation compliance strengthens vehicle scrapping processes, recycling efficiency, and resource recovery. The association leads in building a responsible nation through policy advocacy, innovation, and sectoral collaborations.

This organization stands out as a strong indicator of the Indian automotive sector's commitment to sustainability.
