  • Behind everything we use in our daily lives, from electricity to heating, transportation to production, there is energy. But have you ever thought about how we obtain this energy and which sources are more advantageous for our future?

We get the energy in our lives from either renewable or non-renewable sources.

Renewable energy is produced from sources that nature provides us, which replenish themselves as they are depleted. Solar energy, wind energy, hydroelectricity (obtained from dams), biomass (energy production from organic waste), and geothermal energy (underground hot water and steam) are among the foremost of these. These sources are environmentally friendly, have low carbon emissions, and are more sustainable in the long run. For example, Turkey is much luckier than many European countries in terms of sunshine duration. This means we can both generate our own electricity by installing solar panels on our roofs and reduce our electricity bill worries.

Non-renewable energy sources, which have limited reserves in nature, include coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy. They have been central to our lives since the industrial revolution but have a serious disadvantage: carbon emissions and environmental pollution. Moreover, because we are dependent on imports, prices are immediately affected by global crises.

Most of our country's energy needs are still met by non-renewable sources. This puts us in a difficult situation both economically and environmentally. For this reason, more importance has been given to renewable energy projects recently. Especially wind turbines and solar power plants both create employment and reduce external dependency.

For our country to become completely self-sufficient in energy in the future, it is essential that we use more renewable sources. Installing solar panels in your home, choosing energy-efficient appliances, or supporting local government renewable projects can be small but effective steps.

In short, while there are free and clean sources like the sun, wind, and water, it doesn't make much sense to remain dependent on fossil fuels that harm both our wallets and our planet. The future lies in energy systems in harmony with nature!
