Baumer Acquires X-Sensors to Boost Sensor Innovation

Baumer strengthens its sensor portfolio with X-Sensors, enhancing high-precision force and strain solutions for industrial and Industry 4.0 needs.

Baumer has strengthened its portfolio of high-precision force and deformation measurement solutions by acquiring X-Sensors AG, based in Switzerland. This strategic move aims to combine X-Sensors' 25 years of expertise with Baumer's global presence to enhance its innovative capabilities. Customers will continue to have access to X-Sensors products in the short term, and these products will be integrated into Baumer's product range.

X-Sensors AG manufactures force and deformation sensors designed for demanding applications. It offers force sensors capable of handling loads up to 20 kN and deformation sensors specifically designed for high-precision applications.

Dr. Oliver Vietze, CEO of Baumer Group, stated that IO-Link and smart electronics are driving innovations in force and deformation sensors, making these solutions more accessible and cost-effective for users. He emphasized that the merger with X-Sensors AG will further accelerate this progress.

In short, Baumer's acquisition of X-Sensors AG reinforces its goal of providing smart sensor solutions that enhance reliability and cost-effectiveness in industrial applications.

Baumer Delivers Innovation in Force and Strain Measurement with X-Sensors

Baumer will continue to work with existing X-Sensors sales channels in the short term. In the medium term, it aims to integrate the X-Sensors product portfolio into its own extensive product range, creating a high-performance series. This transition will provide industrial users with access to a wide range of force and strain sensors and enable them to benefit from Baumer's global sales and service networks.

Combined Portfolio Technical Specifications

The DLM30 model, capable of measuring up to 5 kN, and the DLM40 model, up to 20 kN, are force sensors designed to manage repetitive loads in harsh industrial environments. Strain sensors offer an alternative solution for measuring large forces, can be easily integrated into existing systems, and are suitable for casting and injection molding applications.

Additionally, the portfolio includes measurement amplifiers with IO-Link, current output, and voltage output versions. These amplifiers convert mV/V into a usable output signal, reducing the load on the control system. The sensors in the combined portfolio are ideal for detecting excessive wear, force, and overload.

Smart Measurement Systems for the Future

With the adoption of Industry 4.0 standards in industrial sectors, smart sensor technology is becoming critical for efficiency. With IO-Link-enabled force and strain sensors, Baumer continues its commitment to providing future-ready measurement systems. The acquisition of X-Sensors enables Baumer to lead this evolution with its broad range of sensors.
