## Production Line Control Software Update Enhances Traceability and Security
Kontron AIS has released version 5.5 of its FabEagle®LC software, aiming to strengthen workflow flexibility, cybersecurity compliance, and data transparency in automated production environments.
### Robust Control and Connectivity in Production Processes
FabEagle®LC is designed to facilitate communication and process coordination for automated production lines in sectors such as electronics manufacturing, semiconductor production, and general industrial automation. The 5.5 update focuses on improving process reliability, production transparency, and cybersecurity, making IT and OT system integrations within the digital supply chain more secure.
### Enhanced Carrier Management for Product Traceability
The updated carrier management advances the tracking of products and carriers on production lines. Users can now configure carrier types to represent complex material flows and directly associate product data with carriers.
Support for the carrier-in-carrier model allows for modeling nested transport structures in production processes involving multi-stage assembly or variable product configurations. These features strengthen product genealogy tracking and process documentation, which are critical for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
### Workflow Flexibility and Monitoring
Workflow management functions have been updated to allow process steps to be added, removed, or rearranged without needing to recreate the entire workflow. This provides significant convenience for production environments where processes frequently change due to product variations or engineering updates.
The updated web-based Andon board interface offers real-time visualization of machine and production performance indicators. Through this interface, production data becomes accessible via browsers or mobile devices for all production lines or selected machine groups.
### CRA-Compliant Cybersecurity Updates
System stability and sustainability have been enhanced with innovations in software component libraries. Additionally, a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) has been added, providing visibility into the software components used in the system, thus aligning cybersecurity processes with regulations like the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
### Integration and Data Access for Semiconductor Manufacturing
The SECS/GEM interface, used in semiconductor manufacturing environments, has been migrated to the .NET platform. This facilitates integration and maintenance between factory host systems and production equipment.
Furthermore, the production line controller client offers direct access to archived raw production data, enabling engineers to access and analyze historical process data.
### Enhanced Diagnostics for PLC Integration
Kontron AIS’s PLC interface block for Siemens TIA Portal (version 19 and later) has been expanded with new diagnostic functions that provide detailed status information. This shortens troubleshooting and maintenance times, increasing equipment accessibility.
These enhancements support operational efficiency by reducing downtime in automated production environments.
