    ## Pepperl+Fuchs's Cubic Ultrasonic Sensor Series with IO-Link

The new UB*-F42 series effectively delivers ultrasonic sensing functionality in various intralogistics, manufacturing, and material handling applications with its compact and robust design.

Pepperl+Fuchs developed the UB*-F42 ultrasonic sensor series to perform different tasks such as measuring solid or liquid levels and object detection. This new series enables a wide range of applications, including raw material tracking, preventive maintenance, and optimization-oriented control.

    ### UB*-F42 Series Features

    • Compact and robust design
    • IP67 protection class, suitable for dusty, dirty, and water spray environments
    • Ability to emit beams from large square surfaces or small rectangular surfaces, depending on usage
    • Prevents interference in multi-sensor applications with three different synchronization methods (common, multiplex, external trigger)
    • Various beam width options compatible with different applications
    • IO-Link connectivity for compatibility with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices
    • Easy installation, commissioning, and parameter adjustment
    • Advanced diagnostic capabilities and quick fault detection
    • Low maintenance requirements and programmable sensor functions
    • Real-time level measurement insensitive to dust, droplets, and other particles

    ### Application Areas

UB*-F42 series sensors are ideal for measuring solid and liquid raw material fill levels. They provide supply control in areas such as tanks and storage vessels.

They can also be used for door monitoring to verify that vehicles are parked or loaded correctly. This allows material handling teams to continue with their tasks instead of waiting for vehicles to arrive, and they receive an alert when a vehicle is ready.

Finally, the UB*-F42 series provides improvements in many material handling applications; for example, material measurement can be performed with high accuracy in different applications such as measuring the diameter of a roll in paper printing processes or determining grain storage levels.
