    ## Nord Drivesystems Adds 112 Frame Size to IE5+ Synchronous Motor Series

    Nord Drivesystems has expanded its highly energy-efficient IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor series by adding the 112 frame size, increasing the power range to 11 kW (15 hp).

    Electric motors are among the highest energy consumers in industrial systems, especially in applications like continuously operating conveyors, pumps, and material handling equipment. Increasing motor efficiency can significantly reduce operating costs in facilities running 24/7.

    Nord Drivesystems has expanded the scope of its permanent magnet synchronous motors by extending the IE5+ series with the 112 frame size. This new size allows the motors to reach a power capacity of 11 kW without compromising their high efficiency and torque characteristics.

    ### IE5+ 112 Frame Motor Features

    • Available frame sizes: 112, in addition to 71 and 90
    • Power range: Expanded from 0.37 kW (0.5 hp) to 11 kW (15 hp)
    • Maximum torque: 43.7 Nm (387 lb-in)
    • Permanent magnet synchronous motor technology
    • Rotor consists of high-power permanent magnets
    • Does not require external excitation, achieving up to 95% efficiency

    Permanent magnet motor technology uses powerful magnets within the rotor instead of electrical excitation to create a magnetic field. This design reduces energy losses and increases motor efficiency.

    IE5+ motors provide high efficiency across a wide speed range, with no performance loss even at low speeds or partial loads. This flexibility allows many applications to manage different operating conditions with a single motor.

    • 8-pole internal permanent magnet design
    • Fewer moving parts, resulting in less material usage
    • Stator produced with single-tooth winding, reducing copper usage

    • Available in Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) and Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated (TENV) options
    • TEFC: Finned housing for heat dissipation, suitable for continuously operating intralogistics systems
    • TENV: Hygienic, smooth housing for food and beverage production; corrosion-resistant, suitable for high-pressure cleaning with IP69K protection

    ### Integration and Additional Features

    • Compatible with Nord’s modular drive systems
    • Comes standard with an incremental encoder
    • Offers mechanical brakes, different encoder types, motor connectors, and various flange mounting options

    With the addition of the 112 frame size, the IE5+ series has become a preferred choice for higher power applications. Nord's motors continue to offer high efficiency, a wide torque range, and easy integration.
