Kollmorgen Corporation, a global leader in motion control systems, has announced a new update to its SafeMotion Monitor (SMM) firmware. This update expands functional safety support for linear motors and linear axes, offering comprehensive solutions to machine builders for safety-critical applications ranging from semiconductor manufacturing to battery production and industrial automation.

The update works seamlessly with AKD2G servo drives and the Kollmorgen 2G Motion System. While SMM version 3.0 maintains compatibility with all motors featuring the HIPERFACE DSL rotary-safe feedback system, it now supports EnDat 2.2 safe feedback systems on the AKD2G drive, meeting the demand for high-performance safety solutions in precise motion control.
