## HD Hyundai Selects Siemens Xcelerator for Integrated Digital Shipbuilding Platform
HD Hyundai is collaborating with Siemens to create an integrated digital platform that will manage the shipbuilding process as a single data flow, ensuring process consistency across all its global shipyard facilities.
Siemens will provide the digital backbone for HD Hyundai's "Future of Shipyard" project. This project, targeted for completion by 2030, aims to eliminate data discontinuities in ship design and production processes and establish a more structurally digitally-supported shipbuilding environment.
### Project Objective and Scope
The integrated platform will strengthen collaboration between engineering and manufacturing functions, supporting the stable execution of increasingly complex shipbuilding projects. By unifying the data flow from design to production in real-time, it will significantly reduce inefficiencies and errors between processes.
### Siemens Xcelerator and Digital Transformation
Developed on the foundation of the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform, this system will integrate key areas such as CAD, PLM, digital manufacturing, automation, and simulation in a virtual environment, enabling online evaluation of ship planning, construction, and modification processes.
### Technical Specifications
- Real-time integration of design and manufacturing with a single digital data backbone
- Compatibility with computer-aided design (CAD) and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
- Process optimization supported by digital manufacturing, automation, and simulation
- Management of block assembly, welding, piping, and electrical data using 3D integrated models
- Application scope for commercial and special vessel types
- Structured management of equipment and component data
- Model-based performance analysis and lifecycle-oriented maintenance engineering
- Industrial metaverse-based ship and shipyard digital representation projects
- AI-powered production environments with Siemens Digital Twin technology
HD Hyundai and Siemens aim to begin a phased implementation process in 2026, with the goal of using the platform on operational vessels starting in 2028.
This collaboration is seen as a significant development for industry professionals seeking to accelerate digital transformation in shipbuilding, enhance data consistency, and improve process efficiency.
