## FANUC Unveils New Painting Robot at Paint Expo 2026
FANUC introduced its new painting robots, which enhance surface coating quality, reduce maintenance needs, and provide high efficiency in industrial surface coating processes, at Paint Expo held in Karlsruhe, Germany, from April 14-17, 2026.
### Increased Surface Coating Quality with Advanced Painting Robots
Automotive, rail systems, and general industrial coating applications require consistent quality, controlled process parameters, and material efficiency. At Paint Expo 2026, FANUC presented its robotic solutions that improve painting quality and increase process reliability, including the introduction of a new robot model designed for European markets.
At the exhibition area, visitors will be able to observe automatic coating applications and experience stable path control, repeatable speed, and optimized process parameters. These factors contribute to homogeneous results in surface coating and reduce the need for rework.
### P-55/15-21A Painting Robot Features
- Coating of larger parts possible with a reach exceeding 2 meters
- Maximum payload capacity of 15 kg
- Hollow wrist design allowing internal routing of cables and hoses
- Fewer components due to redesigned explosion-proof circuits
- Reduced maintenance times thanks to battery-less encoder technology
- Integration of all control systems within a single cabinet
These features enable the robot to perform coating operations more stably and reliably.
### Collaborative Robot and Automation Applications
FANUC also showcased its CRX-10iA/L Paint cobot, developed for human-robot collaboration. This system, with a 10 kg payload capacity, is suitable for explosion-protected environments with ATEX certification, ensuring safe operation, especially in paint shops where volatile substances are used.
This collaborative robot allows for flexible arrangement of production cells, optimizing production processes based on batch size, product variety, or space constraints. Live demonstrations included detailed and variable geometry coating tasks, such as painting motorcycle helmets.
### Use in Industrial Coating Processes
FANUC's robotic systems provide consistent layer thickness, material savings, and repeatability in areas requiring high-quality surface finishes, such as automotive manufacturing, rail systems, and industrial production. Automation reduces the need for manual labor in hazardous work environments, while enabling processes to proceed predictably and controllably, thereby increasing operational continuity.
### Integration and System Solutions
FANUC is not limited to robot hardware but also offers complete painting line integrations. For example, the automated coating system installed for railway carriage maintenance in Cottbus, Germany, serves as an example of the integration of robotic solutions into a full-scale production environment.
In the paint laboratory in Neuhausen, customer-specific applications are tested and validated, optimizing spray patterns, cycle times, and material usage.
FANUC combines robotic hardware, application expertise, and system integration capabilities to provide scalable coating solutions that are sustainable and meet industrial efficiency requirements.
