    ## Compact System-on-Module from Kontron for Energy-Efficient Embedded Platforms

Kontron Electronics has introduced the OSM-S AM62L, an Open Standard Module (OSM)-compliant System-on-Module (SoM) for embedded systems that require a balance of energy efficiency, performance, and cost. This module is optimized particularly for space-constrained applications.

The OSM-S AM62L supports a dual-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor developed by Texas Instruments, running at speeds up to 1.25 GHz, catering to a wide range of applications such as smart home devices, medical monitoring systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and energy management platforms.

    ### OSM-S AM62L Features
    • Processor: Dual-core Arm Cortex-A53, 1.25 GHz
    • Memory: 512 MB to 2 GB LPDDR4 RAM
    • Storage: 4 GB to 128 GB eMMC options
    • Connectivity: Two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two CAN FD interfaces
    • Display Interfaces: MIPI-DSI and RGB supported display connections
    • Compliance: Open Standard Module (OSM) for pinout, mechanical dimensions, and integration standards
    • Security: Secure Boot support and hardware-based cryptographic acceleration
    • Energy Efficiency: Low power consumption and fanless design

The module offers a flexible structure with various memory and storage configurations, allowing it to be adapted to the performance and complexity requirements of embedded applications. Furthermore, the OSM standard accelerates hardware development and system integration processes.

    ### Connectivity and Integration Features
The OSM-S AM62L features MIPI-DSI and RGB-supported display interfaces to meet the needs of modern human-machine interfaces (HMI). For industrial and infrastructure connectivity, it offers two Gigabit Ethernet and two CAN FD interfaces, providing high-speed communication. These features make it an ideal platform for use in building automation, energy infrastructure, industrial control systems, and medical devices.

    ### Energy Efficiency and Reliability
Thanks to its low thermal output and integrated power management, the module can be reliably used in fanless systems that require continuous operation. In terms of security, it offers Secure Boot and hardware-based cryptography support, meeting the cybersecurity needs of connected embedded devices.

    ### Rapid Development with an Open Standard Approach
With the OSM-S AM62L, Kontron Electronics has for the first time included Texas Instruments processors in its SoM portfolio, offering embedded developers more architectural choices. The adoption of the OSM standard reduces design complexity, simplifies custom carrier board development, and shortens the time-to-market for specialized embedded products.

This module reflects industry trends towards modular and standard embedded platforms, enabling the rapid deployment of scalable system architectures and connected edge solutions.
