    ## DeWalt and August Robotics Introduce Autonomous Concrete Drilling Robot for Data Center Construction

An autonomous concrete drilling robot, developed in collaboration between DeWalt and August Robotics, accelerates concrete placement and drilling processes using CAD-based positioning.

DeWalt, known for its black and yellow colors, and technology pioneer August Robotics are collaborating on a platform to streamline concrete work in data center construction. This autonomous mobile robot platform drills thousands of holes into concrete surfaces according to CAD-defined patterns, creating robust anchor points for racks, electronic infrastructure, and network installations.

    ### The Concrete Drilling Robot and Its Operating Principle

In the construction industry, digital architectural plans specify the exact locations of fixed structures in new buildings. After concrete is poured, anchor holes need to be drilled for interior walls, heavy racking systems, and cable management systems. Traditionally, these operations are performed after manual measurement and marking, but this method makes precise measurement over long distances difficult. DeWalt's robot solves this problem with an autonomous and precise measurement system.

The platform, brought to life by DeWalt in collaboration with August Robotics, is equipped with a fleet management system that allows multiple robots to efficiently map and drill points. This system optimizes continuous robot operation through power management and charging planning.

    ### Technical Specifications

    • Drill diameter: 12 mm (½ inch) to 38 mm (1½ inch)
    • Maximum drilling depth: 35 cm (14 inches)
    • Vertical alignment accuracy: 1 degree
    • Positional accuracy: Within 3 mm (⅛ inch) deviation at the location specified in the CAD data
    • Dust collection system included

    ### Usage and Integration

The robotic system is automatically configured using hole location data from various CAD software or in CSV format. Initial calibration is performed on a teaching tablet, after which the fleet management software handles navigation and task distribution.

    ### Future Outlook

Automation and robotic solutions are critically important for increasing construction speed in high-demand areas like data centers. This new platform from DeWalt and August Robotics accelerates concrete drilling, providing efficiency. Furthermore, the robot's name, "Boris," has been announced, drawing attention in the technology and industry world.
