AutomationDirect's Productivity PLC series has been a staple for small to medium-sized PLC applications for many years. The series has received a new update with the announcement of two new CPU modules for the Productivity1000 series and a set of PLCs with integrated I/O on the CPU. In addition to these hardware options, the Productivity Suite software has also benefited from the addition of UDI (user-defined instruction) support for complex custom logic.
The P1-412 is a budget-friendly CPU designed for simpler applications. It has a memory capacity of 32 MB, slightly less than the 50 MB of the P1-540, which was the smallest CPU in the series until now. Like the other new CPUs, it includes a USB-C programming port and a button to eject the micro SD card. The single Ethernet port is located at the bottom of the CPU, which reduces its footprint, offering the slimmest CPU module in the series.
All models in the series feature USB-C and RS-232 serial connections, and many models also offer Ethernet support. These PLCs can be expanded with the catalog of I/O modules supported by the Productivity1000 series.
New Productivity 1000 CPUs
Two new CPUs have been added to support the most advanced and the simplest applications. The P1-622 is an improved version of the P1-550 CPU, featuring a newer USB-C programming connector and utilizing a latching micro SD card slot with an eject button on the front to allow for a safer removal process while the CPU is powered on. The P1-622 also comes at a slightly lower cost than the P1-550 while having the same memory and communication features. Two new CPU models for the Productivity1000 PLC series.

Mini PLCs with Embedded I/O
Many applications do not require modular I/O. If the I/O is embedded in the CPU, the hardware configuration step can be skipped entirely. The only drawback of integrated I/O is that the number and type of terminals must be suitable for the project. Therefore, a wide variety of model options are available for these mini PLCs. I/O options include the following types:- Discrete input
- Discrete input/output combination
- Analog input (current only)
- Thermocouple input
- Analog input/output combination (current only)
Mini PLCs offer numerous discrete and analog I/O options.
