    ## AI-Powered Motor Control Software from STMicroelectronics

STMicroelectronics has announced its new AI-powered motor control software package, which facilitates predictive maintenance and vibration monitoring features in industrial motor drives.

The released FP-IND-MCAI1 function pack allows for rapid integration of machine learning into motor control systems and evaluation of AI-powered optimization on the EVLSPIN32G4-ACT evaluation board.

    ### AI-Powered Motor Behavior Classification

The software, with its pre-configured machine learning model, can identify three motor states:
    • Normal operation
    • High vibration level
    • Unstable motor behavior

This feature enables engineers to perform predictive maintenance and fault detection in industrial drives, robotics, home appliances, and actuator systems.

    ### Hardware Platform and Motor Drive System

The EVLSPIN32G4-ACT evaluation board supports three-phase brushless DC motors up to 250 W and can connect with vibration sensing modules such as STEVAL-C34KAT1 or STWIN.box multi-sensor kits.

At the heart of the reference design is the compact STSPIN32G4 motor driver system package, which integrates an Arm® Cortex®-M4 microcontroller, half-bridge gate drivers, bootstrap diodes, and protection features. This system supports field-oriented control (FOC) or 6-step motor control with a MOSFET power stage, current sensing amplifiers, and a temperature sensor circuit.

    ### Technical Specifications
    • Software package: FP-IND-MCAI1
    • Evaluation board: EVLSPIN32G4-ACT
    • Motor type: Three-phase brushless DC motor
    • Motor power: Up to 250 W

    ### Software and User Tools

Motor control can be configured and monitored with the STM32 Motor Control Software Development Kit (MCSDK), and the machine learning model can be customized with NanoEdge™ AI Studio. This allows for the creation of additional motor state classes.

    ### Availability and Demonstration

The FP-IND-MCAI1 software package is available for free download, while the EVLSPIN32G4-ACT evaluation board can be purchased from distributors and STMicroelectronics' online store. The company will showcase these AI-powered motor control solutions at the Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg in 2026.

This development is considered a significant step for AI-powered management and maintenance processes in industrial motor drives.
